Tip for the Week: Get Grounded in Your Life School

Every day, life offers “triggers” that can send us into a familiar downward spiral of emotions. Someone does or says something, and we’re off. This is your clue that your Life Lesson(s) are in action.

For me, it can start with something as tiny as a familiar thought pattern. I might think: “I can never do this right, anyway. I might as well just forget it.” My response shoots me into a tunnel of progressively darker thinking. I can work myself into quite a hole before I realize what’s going on and have even a tiny window of awareness, never mind the presence of mind to choose a different response. Hey, that’s for advanced students!

This is where getting grounded in your Life School comes in handy. There are 4 Life Schools: Service, Wisdom, Love, and Peace. (Life School is an essential piece of information derived from a Life Purpose and Hand Analysis.) If you haven’t gotten one yet, sign up for one today on the products page.)

Most people have one Life School. Some of us have two, (I am in the Schools of Love and Service), and only a very few crazy souls who wanted the Advanced Challenge Life Course have three or four.  Remembering the Master Path of your Life School can be a lot easier than the Master Paths of your Life Lessons. It’s a life raft to grab ahold of when you’re “going down.”

These actions put you on the Master Path of your Life School, allowing you to move forward, up and out of the hole:

School of Love: Emotional Authenticity. Say what you’re really feeling! Feels like a huge risk, but it frees you right up. Yes, you might cry – that’s great. A very wise therapist I worked with along the way told me “women cry when they feel anything deeply.” Cry away. It just means whatever’s going on matters to you.

School of Service:  Make Requests and Have Fun! You’ve got to learn to serve your Spirit first. Hardest thing in the world for a born do-gooder, but it’s the key. Take time for you! Too busy? Take 5 minutes, while in the restroom, to meditate. Open up your seventh chakra (crown of your head – like a man-hole cover), and connect with Universal Energy. You’ll be recharged in a jiffy, and it makes delegating easier.

School of Wisdom: Make a Decision and Action it. Get off the fence. There is no “perfect” way, in spite of your amazing clever mind; you won’t improve things by trying to think of another better way. There are a myriad of ways to go about doing a thing, but only one way to get the results you want. Nike has it right. Pick an idea, any idea, and just do it.

School of Peace: Stop. Breathe. Do one thing at a time, slowly. Remind yourself there is time for everything. Speed only leads to drama, chaos, and complications. It won’t matter how much you accomplish today if you feel like you’ve been in the Vita-Mix by the end of it. Using your adrenaline high to push through will erode your health and shorten your life. You’ll actually get more done well by being present, and doing one thing at a time.

Coach’s Challenge: Memorize the Master Path action for your Life School, and take it this week when you find yourself on a familiar path to nowhere. Notice how it grounds you and gets you back on track.
