From Outsider to Insider

From Outsider to Insider

Through some exercises I’ve been doing from the book The Message of You by Judy Carter, I’m beginning to see a pattern in my life journey: from outsider to insider. A few examples: I’m the only girl among 3 brothers, moved a lot, was the only white girl in my first grade classroom, and the only English speaker in my senior year class in high school.

BTW, I have a new free report on my website telling my personal story: “The 3 mistakes I made that kept me from living life for myself: how I overcame them, and how you can, too.” If you want to know more, check it out!

I’ve gotten clear that belonging is an inside job. I’m also getting clear on some of the strategies that have helped me move from continually being an outsider, to feeling at home in my life, and in my own skin.

Some of those strategies have been what drives me to reach out to you weekly, wanting to provide support, inspiration, guidance, and connection. The things that have helped me time and time again are creative self-expression, authentic connection/community, and empowering others. Why empowering others? Because to really do that, I have to travel that road, empowering myself. You will do what you see me doing, not what you hear me saying.

Feeling on the outside can be a terribly painful place. Lonely, dismissed, mocked, discarded, sometimes even betrayed.  Where have you felt like an outsider?

The journey from outsider to insider is something I share with my friend and associate Denise Dee, founder of the upcoming innovative online virtual festival: Brouhaha! Denise is bright, funny, creative, and unafraid to be honest. She’s a spiritual entrepreneur with a background in astrology and hand analysis. She’s also as a gifted channel.

I want you to meet her and hear more about what she’s doing. I’ll be interviewing her this afternoon—I’ll send the recording to you right away. There’s a window of opportunity regarding Brouhaha that you won’t want to miss.

Brouhaha will include a fascinating array of workshops, interviews, and performances. I will be one of the latter, on Wednesday October 29th at 6pm PST. Performances are open to everyone, so I hope you’ll plan on getting on your telephone to listen to me read from my upcoming book, The Curse of Neverland.

Speaking of my book, for those of you who’ve not yet heard, the publication date has been set for January 23, 2015. Even better news: you can pre-order my book right now and save $5 per copy off the retail price. Just visit the book website here. It’s no accident that my story is about a motely group of foster girl misfits and their struggle to believe in themselves and each other.

Coach’s Challenge: I challenge all of you to listen to my interview with Denise (coming this afternoon), but especially if you are struggling with feeling like an outsider. Brouhaha! The “Causing a Disturbance” Festival, may be just what you need—just the teacher(s) to speak to you about what you’re struggling with and how to not just cope, but how to thrive.
