The School of Divine Bliss

The School of Divine Bliss

That got your attention, didn’t it! It’s really called the School of Service, but the word “service” is so loaded with mistaken meanings in our culture, let’s call it the “School of Divine Bliss” for the moment. It will give you a clearer image and a fresh perspective on that word, “service.”

There are two assignments in this school: 1) make requests, and 2) have fun.

Guess what? Most School of Service people will admit they aren’t very good at either of those things. Those are the two keys to transforming servitude or selfishness into divine bliss. The teaching refrain for this Life School is: “I must learn to serve my own spirit first, so I may truly be of service to others.”

This Life School is the school of the spirit. It’s associated with “whorl” fingerprints – the ones that look like a spiral, or a bull’s eye.  It’s not as common as the School of Love, except among the criminal populace, where I am told this fingerprint rules.

What the heck does crime have to do with Divine Bliss? Funny you should ask.  These whorl owners have lost track of Divine Connection. They have cut themselves off. They are caught in selfishness: lost in the illusion that it’s every man for himself, winner take all. Any bliss they reach is short-lived and a shabby substitute for the real deal.

An equally uncomfortable path is also available – that of servitude. Not a crime, but a veritable breeding ground for resentment, exhaustion, burnout, crabbiness, and negativity. It also serves as an excuse for not moving forward. “I can’t do that for myself, because so-an-so needs me to do x for them.” Really? How might that person manage if you weren’t so available? It might empower them to find their own way!

Here’s what we’re shooting for: honor students in this Life School are in constant connection with the Divine. They open that crown chakra and commune. Another image is to imagine yourself merging with the earth, or the trees – any nature image will do. Activating our connection to the Divine (available to all, regardless of Life School) provides an immediate sense of relief. It honors the truth of a power higher than our own will, beyond our personal control. It reminds us that everything is not up to us, as we feared. The ultimate fate of the world does not lie on our shoulders alone. We cannot “fail at life,” or fail to live up to our potential, if we truly allow the Divine to guide and inspire us.

True service is provided by who we are being, not what we are doing. By connecting with the divine, and feeling that rush of bliss, we beam that energy out to anyone in the neighborhood. It’s yummy stuff, very attractive, and will draw others hungry for this same connection.

Coach’s Challenge: Do those 2 simple (but not easy!) things this week: make requests, and have fun. Watch how the current of life handles things beautifully when you fully embrace delight!
