The Ultimate Freedom

I am reading Lee Milteer’s new book: Reclaim the Magic: The Real Secrets to Manifesting Anything You Want. There’s a ton of useful information in it—today I want to pass on two pearls:

  1. The ultimate freedom is responsibility. By claiming complete responsibility for your life, you achieve the ultimate freedom. Here’s this stunning piece of advice Lee received from an early mentor in her life:

“[…]you are always 100% responsible for your life. Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It’s not your parents, where you live, lack of money, the weather, or your age that is to blame when things go wrong. You and only you are responsible for every decision you make, so be careful of the decisions you make and listen to your heart and head before making them.”

That quote alone is worth the book’s purchase price! It’s such a great reminder that freedom comes not by avoiding, but by embracing responsibility and choice.

So many of us fall into the illusion that we’ll be free when we win the lottery, when we get the perfect job, when our creative project finally takes off, when so-and-so clears out… you name your own illusion! I urge you to not waste time drowning in your illusion. Start taking a stand, taking action, step by step toward the vision that is your idea of ultimate freedom. You are the one who can get you there!

Which leads to the second pearl:

  1. You don’t have to do it alone. There is assistance available from all manner of unimagined sources when you ask. Quoting from Lee’s book:

“There are mystical energies everywhere in the world and there is an invisible presence that looks over you and guides you if you are open to it. There is so much more to life than the eye can see.”

One of my favorite quotes in the world, (which I thought came from Goethe until just a few moments ago—thanks to Google I now know it was written by Scottish mountaineer and author William Hutchinson Murray), brings these 2 pearls together, showing the one is directly related to the other:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

Coach’s Challenge: Where have you been wavering on the brink of commitment? Where have you been putting off action waiting for external circumstances to change? Identify it. Breathe into it. Claim it as your responsibility. Commit to it. You are now moving toward this end, taking action on it. Then ask the Universe to send all manner of assistance. You are responsible for deciding on the what. The Universe gets to manage the how.
