What do you stand for?
One of the many impactful exercises we were given at Sage Lavine’s Women’s Leadership Conference this past weekend was this question.
You’ve been living life for a good while now, and whatever your path, it has led you to value some things above all others. It has taught you to survive and if you are lucky, to thrive, through something very specific. What is that thing?
For this thing you would stand against all manner of onslaughts to protect it for others, to be sure others can benefit from it as you have. You might not realize until asked closely that you are taking a stand. The way you take it might be through your art, your parenting or grand parenting, through the healing and coaching you do, or the message you share with others. However you stand, I ask again: What do you stand for?
Identifying this thing gives you power. It may illuminate your next step, your pursuit, or your message. It clarifies who you are and what you care about. It cuts right through to the essence. Identifying it now allows you to live it consciously rather than waiting for it to be your epitaph.

I stand for the life-giving power of creativity.
Coach’s Challenge: What do you stand for? Take a few minutes to talk about it with a friend, or write about it in your journal. Once you’ve got it, own it. And let the unimportant fall away so you can more fully focus on this essential truth. It will make your life rich beyond measure. Please leave me a comment below with your answer!
