What You Were Born to Do

What You Were Born to Do

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving, however you celebrate it!

I am grateful for YOU. If you are here, you are certainly on the road to knowing what you were born to do.

Thank you for bringing your one-of-a-kind vibration to the world, and for sharing it with me. With technological overload a reality, I think it matters to choose only what supports our highest vibration—and I very much appreciate the honor of getting to show up in your inbox weekly.

Today I bring you a book for deep thinking:

A Life at Work: The joy of discovering what you were born to do, by Thomas Moore.

My involvement with Scientific Hand Analysis and Life Purpose Readings speaks to my passion for helping clients discover what they are born to do. I have come to believe this discovery is not an event, but a process. Your fingerprints speak to the realms and heights of your soul’s focus, then you must mix in your dreams, your creativity, and your life experience to spark the real alchemy of discovering what you were born to do.

You may have heard of Thomas Moore as the #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of Care of the Soul. He’s a very soulful writer, and a believer in a “multiplicity of callings” and a “multi-directional life.” His own history includes being a student of music, a monk, a professor, a therapist, a writer, and a speaker.

I would say “soulful” is a quality intrinsic to Thomas Moore—all of his callings carry this quality. I encourage you to pick this book up at your library and take your time reading it. It’s chalk full of thought-provoking passages. Here is just one sample, from the book’s conclusion:

“Finding your life work is inseparable from maturing as a person and finding your place in society. To mature as a person you have to take considerable time sorting through, taking to heart, and resolving the mistakes and failures that have marked your progress. You have to refine the raw material of your emotions and jagged relationships, learning better how to engage the world effectively. You have to unleash your creativity in realistic ways, grounding your idealism and ambitions in real-world contexts.

You need a spiritual vision, a philosophy of life, and a deep and evolving sense of values. You need close relationships, participation in community, and openness to social need. With these personal qualities in place, you will glimpse the nature of your life work step-by-step and after a long while get a sense of its arc. Then you can help others find their way.

You can fashion a rich, multifaceted life that doesn’t feel fragmented or broken. […] Life is rich, and you will taste that richness when you stay close to the dynamic that is your life work.”

Coach’s Encouragement: Sit in gratitude, this week, for who you are and all you have been and done so far. Feel the enormity and depth—and give yourself some well-earned love and gratitude!
