Making Space for Grace

Making Space for Grace

Let’s talk about one of the secrets to success and to a joyful life: Grace.

Grace is a funny gal. She doesn’t require a lot of space, but she needs the suggestion that she is wanted, expected, desired and welcome. She is attracted to boldness, to committed action – she likes movers and shakers. But she doesn’t like egotistical, she needs room, she likes to take credit for the magic she brings – she needs you to make space for grace!

I’m talking in metaphors already, so I may have lost you.

When I say “grace,” I’m referring to the movement of the divine, the unexpected  perfect twist of fate that sometimes falls into your lap. Yes, you must set your intentions, you must move toward them with the conviction that they are already in place. But you must do it without attachment, and you must include making space for grace.

Marc Allen, of New World Library publishing company, began to experience success with Shakti Gawain when they published her book “Creative Visualization.”  He has since honed the art of using affirmations. He bills himself as a lazy guy who has become a millionaire. He always takes Mondays off, and he allows time every day for daydreaming. My kind of guy!

In his book The Millionaire Course: A Visionary Plan for Creating the Life of Your Dreams, Marc shares an affirmation he uses daily, which I love because it’s clearly making space for grace.

I’m paraphrasing here, so sorry Marc, if I get it wrong!

In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all, I am now __ (your intention, present tense)__. This or something even better is now my reality.

You see the space for grace? This is also expressed beautifully like this: “You are responsible for the ‘what.’ The Universe is responsible for the ‘how.’”

It takes practice and skill to be able to surrender the “how” once you’ve got your heart set on a “what.”  Give it a try…

Coach’s Challenge:  Let’s play! Set an intention for this week – something a bit outside of your comfort and confidence zone. Really decide on it, it must be something you are ready to emotionally “own.” Got it? That’s your “what.” Now see it float off into the Universe in a pink bubble – you can keep feeling the joy of having that “what,” but you are not allowed to worry your mind over how it will come to pass. You must pay attention and be ready to take action when the opportunity presents itself. That’s it! That’s making space for grace! As always, I invite you to leave a comment, share your journey.
