Have you see the TV series Outlander? It’s a definite two thumbs up!
When Claire Randall finds herself in Scotland 200 years in the past, there are three things that help her stop trying to escape her circumstances, and start life living right were she is:
- Finding her purpose (her unique insights can have a huge impact) I would call her purpose “Innovative Healer with a Message for the Masses”
- Creating meaningful relationships (both intimate and friendships)
- Having a way to contribute or give back (a nurse in the “future,” she becomes a healer in the past)
These are the same three things YOU need to thrive in your life—to stop struggling against it and start living full out right where you are. If you need help with these things, contact me for a free strategy session.
I’ve been a fan of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series since the first book came out in 1992. These are big fat books, with a ton of historical research in them, I’ve waited breathlessly for each new book to be released—the seventh and most recent, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, came out this year.
The best I can do to categorize the books is to call them “historical romance with a time travel element.” But really, it’s an epic saga of centuries of struggle, war, family, of making things right no matter the cost, and of a love that bridges time.
As you may know, Diana Gabaldon’s books are being made into a TV series. Provided the series continues as successfully as it began, it will be running for a long time. You know how Game of Thrones can go on and on because of George R. R. Martin’s big, fat, successful, imaginative books—Diana’s are on that level. LOTS of material to work from!
As a reader, I had my worries about a cinematic version. The main characters: Claire Randall and Jamie, Fraser are so iconic—as any reader, I doubted actors could be found that could bring the roles to life and satisfactorily match my imagination. I have to say, they did it. I give the TV series a resounding two thumbs up!
As a writer, it thrills me beyond measure to see an author who has worked so hard and poured so much of her heart, mind, and soul into her fictional world, receive the gift of having her work brought beautifully to life in another format – one that will allow her work to reach a whole new audience.
Congratulations, Diana! Well done, you! It gives me great pleasure to say: Outlander—Two Thumbs Up!
