Super-Squirrel Says Take the Leap

Super-Squirrel Says Take the Leap

One of the authors I enjoy and admire is Kate DiCamillo, who wrote, among many others, Because of Winn Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux. Right now I’m listening to the audio version of Flora & Ulysses: the Illuminated Adventures. It’s a complete lark, including a squirrel that gets vacuumed and becomes a super-hero capable of flying and writing poetry.

Every time it gets to a part where the squirrel is going to perform something heroic, triumphant music comes on in the background. I love this! Of course it’s a piece poking fun at itself, but as ludicrous as it is, for me it just underscores the essential nature of imagination, adventurous tales, and heroes. The fact that the heroes in this case are an estranged couple and their daughter the ten-year-old “cynic” only makes it more endearing.

All this is to say you do not have to be all that extraordinary to be a hero. In fact, you can be perfectly ordinary and be a hero. You just have to believe in yourself and in your cause, and take the leap.

I took a leap this week. Like most leaps, it was surprisingly simple in retrospect. But it took courage and a lot of breathing to work up to. I had decided that I would be an excellent event facilitator, otherwise known as an MC. All my years of training in music, dance, and theater lend themselves, as does my ease with reading the energy of a room.

An event brought itself to my attention – one that is perfectly matched to my interests and temperament. It’s called Imagination IQ, and I can’t wait to share more with you about it! I’ve been working with Soul-Purpose Branding wizard Sabine Messner, and she’s one of the presenters – so I told her I would like to MC the experience (it is going to be more of an experience than an event.) She knows enough of me that she agreed, and made an e-mail introduction to the main presenter, Dan Fowler. He and I made a phone date, spent about an hour talking things over, and BOOM! Just like that, I have a gig!

I’m really thrilled. He has been kind enough to allow me to offer the event to you at a discount, in case you’d like to come witness my inaugural “Energetic Experience Facilitator” role. As soon as he gives me the go-ahead, I’ll do that. In the meantime, I’ll just let you know that it’s in Scottsdale, AZ, April 3-6 (Thursday through Sunday). It’s going to be all about how to be an imagination engineer: how to bring those things that are sparkling in your imagination, into real life. And there’s going to be nothing ordinary about this event, including yours truly! :>)

Coach’s Challenge: When you become aware of the tickle of inspiration, ask for an opportunity to act on it. Then you need to be willing to take the leap when it comes, because it will come. Make the phone call. Take the time.  Spend the money. Let me know how it goes! Can’t wait to hear about your leap!

P.S. I’ll be traveling to LA this week for business mentoring/master-minding. However, those of you in my Reiki program, I’ll still be sending at the usual times. See you “in the grove!”
